The last few years have felt a bit off for plenty of reasons. Everywhere is sinking into the ocean and a reality TV star is the president. Even with all this, few things felt stranger than the absence of Rihanna. The singer has sat out since Anti but the absentee pop star has reportedly finished her long-anticipated 9th album.
According to Us Weekly, the roots-exploring album is in the can. Anonymous sources told the gossip publication that she's finally wrapped the Anti follow-up.
That the album took so long is no surprise, given the sheer scope of the project. Unnamed insiders who spoke to Rolling Stone said that hundreds of songs were considered for the album.
“[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers,” a dancehall producer told the magazine. “They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project.”
