Cam’ron says he turned a natural supplement he discovered during the pandemic into a multi-million dollar brand, all while staying true to his roots and away from the industry grind.
In a new interview with The Breakfast Club aired on Thursday (Oct. 9), the rapper talked about his supplement company, Pink Horse Power, which he says is rooted in natural African ingredients like “leaves, roots, trees,” and was born out of his interest in maintaining potency and authenticity, especially after discovering how the product was being diluted during overseas transport.
“I know people in Senegal and it comes in on the boat,” Cam explained near the 12 minute mark in the video linked above. “When it’s on the boat, they water it down … I keep a n***a on a boat for two months to watch our stocks so that we make sure we have the highest potency of it.”
He also claimed that the supplement, which is consumed as a shot, works in “10 minutes” and is meant to be taken “when it’s time to go in,” as opposed to more casual situations like when you’re out running errands.
“We’ve been doing this for four years [and] probably made close to $10 million on it,” he told the hosts.
When asked about the inspiration for the product and its market research, Cam’ron pointed towards the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“Nobody was doing shit but fucking at home,” he said, before explaining that a friend from Senegal introduced to a more potent version of what was already being circulated on the market.
The brand also got a major boost from Cam’s media appearances.
“When I did Drink Champs first, it went crazy. Then I did Gillie [Da Kid’s] show and it went crazy. That was another reason I started the podcast. I’m like, ‘N***a, I could shoot a commercial for this every day on my own shit.”
One of the biggest spikes in visibility came from a CNN appearance in 2024 where Abby Phillip asked him questions about the then-recently released footage showing Diddy assaulting Cassie.
“I said I’ll do one or two Puff questions, but you kept forcing the issue. Alright, bet. Let’s do it, Pink Horse commercial, the whole shit,” he said.
Cam says the business is ultimately a broader shift in his life, which means stepping away from industry drama and moving towards peace of mind.
“I just love doing this,” he said further into the interview, referring to ventures like Pink Horse Power, his sports show Come And Talk 2 Me with Ma$e, and his Talk With Flee podcast. “To pillow off that and then do Talk With Flee and make a few million dollars … I don’t want to have to do some shit I don’t want to do at this point in life.”
“I would hate to have to be in a club for 3200 a night, 50-49 years old, my n***a. That shit would kill me,” he concluded.
