Bobby Shmurda’s explosive rap career came to a serious pause after he was arrested in 2014 and pled guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession in September 2016.
Even though he has at least two years left in prison—and may still only be making less than $8 a week as a commissary clerk—his mother recently shared a post on Instagram reporting that her 23-year-old son is keeping his chin up behind bars.
“He is maintaining great spirits and will be home before you know it,” Leslie Pollard wrote under two photos of her son.
Back in April, TMZ reported that Bobby might be eligible for parole in 2020, instead of his expected release date of 2022. He was originally sentenced for six to seven years in Clinton Correctional Facility, but thanks to 685 days he served prior to his sentencing, two years could be shaved off that sentence. Unfortunately, Shmurda could still receive additional time due to prison violations. So far he's already received 11 violations that include fighting, possession of a shank, and drug possession. He’s expected to have a parole hearing in August 2020.
