The legendary Tego Calderon returns to the Latin music scene with “La Receta.”
After years of not releasing music, the superstar has made a comeback that aligns with the happy and upbeat style that brought him international recognition over twenty years ago with his classic reggaeton track “Pa’ Que Retozen.”
His debut album that year, El Abayarde, placed Calderon at the forefront of the Latin reggaeton scene with his humorous yet relatable wordplay accompanied by his own refreshing spin on the fun sound. Tego has always been a leader of the genre in general; a special representative for the Black Latine community who has consistently spoken up on the Afro influence in in the space.
The video, premiering above at Complex, features a couple of his day-one producers DJ Urba and Rome and an all afro-Latine cast on a sunny beach golf course. Along with this single, Tego plans to release several new songs to an audience starving for his music. You can keep an eye out for those in the coming months.
