In the early morning hours of September 14, 2017, Anthony “Fif” Soares was gunned down by two men while inside a Toronto Community Housing building. Soares, who was 33 at the time of his death, left behind a girlfriend, and a young daughter, but the OVO affiliate was also survived by the brother he had in Drake

Three days after his death, Drake honored Soares by getting a tattoo of his late friend with the message “FOREVER FIF.”

Nearly three years later, the passing of Fif still isn’t far from Drake’s mind, as evident by the album back cover art for his latest project Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a collection of previously leaked songs and never heard before tracks that will hit streaming services at midnight.

Drake also posted a photo of Fif on his Instagram Stories with the caption, "Missing you today g. #foreverfif." No suspects have been arrested for the death of Soares.
