Royce da 5'9" helped the L.A. Leakers commemorate their 100th freestyle session by setting the mic on fire.

Royce twisted metaphors and parables together to create a nearly six-minute freestyle that proved why his talent has withstood the test of time, starting off by paying homage to his Detroit roots.

"Thou shall not fuck with Detroit me/Never on the Coogi, Ford truck, or a pair of them gator Mauris," Royce raps. "Rolling with the chopper daily/Pupils dilated like I'm Sada Baby/Nozzle on that gun longer than the one on that Gaga lady ... You haters busters, I'm David Ruffin, it'll take me nothing/To put your life on the dollar menu, right there by the Egg McMuffin."

After easing into things, Royce opened up the throttle and turned the freestyle into a lyrical exercise. "Me and Porter got the same staying power that hoarders got/Whoever Superman, I got Kryptonite in these hands/But I rather soup a man, leave you liquefied with these cans/I don't care if you rappers are trending topics, your shit is garbage/Couldn't make a classic out of that trash if you had Brenda drop it," he rapped before letting the beat breathe.

The second leg of the freestyle was just as potent. Instead of merely dropping more braggadocious bars, Royce filtered in layered messages to prove that it's possible to do both. "We attribute the original way we articulate through bricks of yay/Zipped up on 18-wheelers on interstates/We distribute weight then matriculate into real estate," Royce spat. "It's about time we invest in our mental status/I write rhymes for Anunnaki slave ancestors on emerald tablets/Today we raging on Vegas stages with bass guitars/Yesterday it was agents chasing us, aprons, and mason jars."

Not only was Royce there to celebrate this milestone, but he was also on a press run to promote his new album, The Allegory. This is the first project where Royce has tried his hand at producing. It features acts like Vince Staples, G Perico, Conway the Machine, and more.
