Assume Form, James Blake's fourth studio full-length, is a powerhouse of a pop collection for many reasons. Chief among them is the back half highlight "Are You in Love," a track that provides the perfect lead-in for the André 3000-featuring "Where's the Catch," both of which boast titles that ask arguably unanswerable questions.
Wednesday night, Blake brought "Are You in Love" to the Jimmy Kimmel Live studios in Hollywood, for a would-be televised live performance.
However, as Pitchforknotes, the performance never actually aired on TV due to a presumably boring chat with Joe Biden going long.

"I was quite intent on learning how to get out of that headspace, into a more positive period," Blake, speaking on how spending more time in Los Angeles has helped him get more in tune with his mental health, toldThe Evening Standard surrounding Assume Form's release. "There are definitely some moments of doubt on the album—it's not all rosy. But it is generally more rosy. Which has got to be good."
Elaborating further, Blake outlined the relatable experience of intentionally sabotaging any given "good day" by purposely picking arguments and just generally aiming "to be difficult." The process of getting to a healthy enough space in which he could write and release this album, he added, wouldn't have been possible without the influence of his partner Jameela Jamil.
