On Aug. 8 of 2018, NPRshared the riveting Tiny Desk performance of the late Mac Miller to YouTube. Today, marking one year since that iconic performance was shared with the world, they've published a tribute performance from Ty Dolla Sign of his and Mac's Divine Feminine collab "Cinderella."

The performance, assisted by Thundercat on bass and Justus West on guitar, was captured after Ty taped his own Tiny Desk set last week. Once the taping finished, per NPR's Bobby Carter, "something special happened" between Ty and the band.

"I reminded Ty that he sat at the desk almost a year to the day that his friend, Mac, delivered what would be one of his final performances," Carter wrote Thursday. "The band paused and huddled. They mulled over a few notes in a matter of seconds then gave me a signal that they were ready. The room was silenced and the cameras started rolling again."

Ty and company are joined by Cory Henry on vocals, Mike Moore on drums, and Aliandro Prawl on keys. Catch the special tribute performance via the video up top.

Mac, who died Sept. 7 of last year, is among the artists prominently featured in Showtime's captivatingly inspiring Rick Rubin docuseries Shangri-La.

As seen in the recent episode clip below, Mac's aim with his final album Swimming was to "be as much me as possible."
