Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey co-founder Starkey is back with his seventh album (10th if you include the three soundtracks he scored) — New Theia: Tomorrow — and it's possibly his most energetic release to date.
Coming in hot on opening track "Verses", Starkey calls on the talents of Buggsy, Hypes, XP and Redders to deliver whipcrack bars over the bouncy grime-infused bass throb. From there we get golden era dubstep on "Bangs", a dramatic story of a cheerleader who "buries herself behind the bleachers and comes back as a zombie to haunt the new class", and a cinematic instrumental grime epic on "Clawz Pt. 1" and "Clawz Pt. 2". That sets the tone for the second part of the album, which mixes sci-fi soundscapes, intricate melodies and potent mid-range stabs.
