Weeks after he was sentenced for his role in 2016 fatal shooting, Tay-K was transferred to Bexar County, Texas, where he will face another capital murder charge in an unrelated case.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas prosecutors want Tay-K—legal name Taymor McIntyre—to be tried as an adult in connection to the murder of Mark Saldivar. The rapper is accused of fatally shooting the 23-year-old photographer outside a San Antonio Chick-fil-A in 2017, while he was on the lam.
Nicole Perez, a spokeswoman for the Bexar County D.A.'s office, told the publication that prosecutors in the Saldivar murder case will seek to have Tay-K certified to stand trial. He was 16 at the time of the shooting.
Perez said the certification hearing has yet to be scheduled.
Tay-K was sentenced to 55 years in prison last month for his involvement in the murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker during a home-invasion robbery. The rapper, who was tried as an adult in the case, received 30 years in prison on one count of aggravated robbery and 13 years each for the two remaining counts of aggravated robbery. Those sentences will run concurrently. The Star-Telegram reports he will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least half of the sentencing.
Tay-K's legal team has appealed the ruling.
In June 2018, Saldivar's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the rapper, seeking more than $1 million in damages.
