Boston artist and Alamo Records signee Jaalid has been dropping promising material for a few years now, but he's ramping up on that potential in the lead-up to his debut album, It's Not That Bad. With the reflective "Knicks Game," Jaalid proves why he's someone to keep an eye on.
"This song is one that I've been working on for a little while now," Jaalid explained to Complex. "It stemmed from real relationship encounters I've had in the past where everything felt like cat and mouse. The roles would reverse depending on the situation but no matter what they weren't ever on the same team or the winning team (hence the name)."
The track is taken from Jaalid's debut album, which drops on July 15. "The concept fit well with the album releasing this Monday entitled It's Not That Bad because hindsight is always 20/20 and what seems to be life or death in the moment can end up being a laughable situation in retrospect," he added.
