When Kim Porter passed away last November, many of her colleagues, friends, and fans mourned the late-model's death and published supportive messages to her family. Sean "Diddy" Combs, who dated Porter on-and-off for decades and had children with, was particularly devastated after her passing. Despite the longevity of Diddy and Porter's relationship, the two were never married, which the music mogul appears to regret.
Diddy took to Instagram on Sunday to post a nostalgic photo of himself with Porter accompanied by the caption "SMH" and a broken heart emoji.
One critic took to the comments section to criticize Diddy for memorializing a woman he never asked to marry. “When she was alive you didn’t wanna marry her. Confused negro. GTFOH," they wrote. While most celebrities would brush off such a comment, Combs instead responded. “I know. Played myself smh," Diddy replied.
Combs was clearly heartbroken following Porter's passing, delivering a heartfelt eulogy at her funeral in which he explained how close their relationship remained. "I was really depressed, and I don't know why," he explained. "I just went through a dark dark time. She would come over [...] Even though we wasn't together like that, she was that type of person. It's hard to love someone when you ain't with them."
Throughout their relationship, which spanned from 1994 until 2007, they would temporarily end things during which Diddy would briefly date another woman before going back to Porter. The tumultuous nature of their relationship has prompted many Internet trolls to criticize the music mogul in the comments section of his Kim Porter tribute posts.
