Never underestimate the power of rap music as the city of Houston will be getting a new amusement park thanks to Travis Scott and ASTROWORLD

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, while Scott was performing in his hometown for the second leg of his Astroworld: Wish You Were Here Tour, Houston's Mayor Sylvester Turner took the stage at the Toyota Center to surprise the concert goers with a special announcement.

"Because of him, we want to bring another amusement theme park back to the city," Turner said before presenting Travis with a key to the city.

According to the Mayor's Office, the desire to bring a theme park back to Houston is solely Scott's brainchild. Scott is in support of the mayor tapping investors to help create and design an amusement park that operates as a private business venture, according to KHOU 11 News.

"This would not be a city project but would encourage the use of private money and developers," Turner's spokeswoman explained. "Mayor Turner is definitely in support of that."

Scott previously received the key to Missouri City, his hometown, last February.

On Nov. 18, after the inaugural day of Astroworld Festival, the date was officially named Astroworld Day.

In addition, Scott celebrated his third sold-out show at the Forum in Los Angeles by creating exclusive merch. Scott's Cactus Jack teamed up with Dover Street Market to have the collection only available at Dover's L.A. location. The installation extended from Feb. 8 with the capsule initially being available to those lucky enough to have won a raffle. However, prior to its close on Feb. 15, Cactus Jack and Dover released additional units of the seven-piece collection. You can check them out below.
