T.I. delivered his long-awaited studio album The Dime Trap earlier this month, bringing a lot of guests along for the ride. Following its release, Tip has released a documentary detailing the creative process that went into the album, explaining both his inspirations and why he included the guests that he did.

“Really it was when all of the back and forth happened about who started what, who did what,” T.I. said in the documentary as Rolling Stone notes. “I’m like man, ‘For real, we still talking about this now?’ It was a bit of a fire lit up under me, and I just said, ‘Man fuck – I’m finna put this shit out.'”

The newly released 10-minute documentary sees T.I. getting candid about his music, and why he prefers to setup his collaborations personally. “Everybody that I work with, I call them personally and ask them to do this,” T.I. explained. “I like that way because I think that the people that I have relationships with, they have a good idea of what I expect as far as my music is concerned. I think that’s valuable. Music is all about energy, it’s about coming together in collaboration.”

To celebrate the release of Dime Trap, last week T.I. and Young Thug dropped the video for their collaboration on the album, "The Weekend." The Kid Art-directed video starts as a party before taking a dark turn.
