Nicki Minaj appeared in a new interview with Ellen on Monday to tell everyone how she really felt about losing the No. 1 spot to Travis Scott.
“When someone says how they feel they’re not always upset or angry,” Onika tells Ellen after she asks about the rapper’s tirade about her new album Queen losing the No. 1 Billboard 200 spot to Travis Scott's ASTROWORLD.
“Well what were you feeling?” Ellen asks.
"I felt like I wanted to punch him in his fucking face,” Nicki responds. She goes on to reiterate some of her previous complaints about La Flame’s merch sales and the 12 hours she lost in streaming time.
“I don’t like being bullied and I don’t like being taken advantage of,” she says. “And sometimes people use scare tactics against you, because they know, especially as a black woman, people will call you angry or bitter, and so now it’s almost like we’re not allowed to defend ourselves or stand up for ourselves.”
The two then switched over to a conversation about Nicki’s love life and her “toxic” relationship with Meek Mill. “I was in a relationship with Meek for a while, which ended and it was a very toxic something,” she says, before updating Ellen on her latest beau. “There’s a new boy but he and I kind of fell back a little bit, and then there’s a newer... he’s been around for a couple wigs now.”
Onika also reveals that she’s still friends with Nas, and despite her new flames, the rapper is very much single for the first time, ever. “I’m just chillin'. I’ve always been a relationship my whole life, this is the first time I’m single and I’m happier and I’m more free,” she explains. “I used to feel like I had to have a man and I want every woman to know you absolutely don’t.”
