Lana Del Rey is the latest celebrity to jump on Kanye West for his decision to support Donald Trump. In a comment on West's Instagram, underneath a photo of the rapper wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap, the singer expressed disappointment over Ye's continued support of the president.
"Trump becoming our president was a loss for our country but your support of him is a loss for the culture," she wrote.
Rey went on to say that she thinks West relates to Trump because he sees a bit of himself in the divisive leader.
"I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level," she wrote. "Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism - none of which would be a talking point if we weren't speaking about the man leading our country."
Rey closed by returning to the many allegations of sexual assault against the president, referencing the infamous Access Hollywood tape where Trump bragged to host Billy Bush about his ability to get away with groping women.
"If you think it's alright to support someone who believes it's OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he's famous - then you need an intervention as much as he does," she said.
The critique has to be particularly cutting coming from Rey. The artist is behind Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian's favorite song "Young And Beautiful." Kanye proposed to Kim with the help of an orchestra performing the song and he tagged the singer to perform at their wedding rehearsal dinner.
The post has been a lightning rod of controversy beyond just Kanye's choice of hat. West called for abolishing the 13th Amendment in the caption, a move that made actor Chris Evans post a rebuttal to Twitter.
"There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue," he wrote.
