With his new video for "Ya Heard Me," Atlantic Records signee RecoHavoc wanted to capture his high-energy approach to crafting songs.

"My whole idea for 'Ya Heard Me' was to take it back to my roots," RecoHavoc told Complex ahead of the premiere of the new video, directed by Nerdy Rebel. "I'm from Philly. You gotta fight and dance. That's hip-hop, that's the culture. I grew up in this shit so I embrace every part of hip-hop, not just rapping or singing."

For Reco, that means mastering everything from beats to graffiti. "My music 'durf music' is to motivate people, no matter if you're an athlete or someone who works a regular 9-to-5 job," he said. "'Durf music' makes you wanna get up off your ass and go work out. My music is high energy and very aggressive and that's what I want to express in the video. I know the type of music people need to get pumped up in the gym and my music definitely gonna make you break a sweat for sure."

DJ Drama, the host of Reco's new STARTED mixtape, is excited about the sound his fellow Philadelphian is perfecting. "I love to be a part of new movements, especially someone like Reco coming from my hometown," Drama said.
