Mary J. Blige celebrates a new chapter in life with a disco record called “Only Love.”
The 47-year-old Grammy winner reflected on the Pop & Oak-produced track Thursday, just hours before it was released.
“I’ve been in the studio working on new music and was excited to share a little bit with you all,” she wrote on Instagram. “I had a year of so many ups and downs and have come out the other side with a renewed spirit and a fresh perspective. I’m entering my next chapter with an open mind and heart. ‘ONLY LOVE’ is where I am right now and I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer!”
The single arrives just weeks after Blige finalized her divorce from music manager Martin “Kendu” Isaacs.
“Took me a while, but I’m looking up, 'cause I know you love me too,” she sings. “’Cause you came right in and you brought me home, I aint never felt this feelin’.”
You can listen to “Only Love” now on Apple Music/iTunes as well as Spotify.
It’s unclear if this single will land on an upcoming full-length album; however, judging by Blige’s recent Instagram post, it’s safe to assume there's more material on the way.
