Unreleased Kanye West, Quavo, and Lil Yachty Collab Surfaces

The track, titled "Face Down," has a melodically strong but lyrically meh chorus with some classic Quavo flourishes. Is this what the presumably canned 'Turbo Grafx 16' would have sounded like?

Ye, like previous Kanye West releases, was almost an entirely different album. As West himself has discussed in recent interviews, the events leading up to the release—namely all that MAGA talk—ultimately inspired West to take a more immediate lyrical approach. At some point during the sessions that would later result in Ye, as previously reported, West linked with Quavo and Lil Yachty for at least one track that failed to make it to the album. Now, a track that was presumably recorded during those sessions has surfaced.

The tentatively titled collab "Face Down" features a darkly catchy piano pattern reminiscent of the minimalist vibes of "FML" or "Bad News." The chorus, while lyrically set firmly in meh territory, is hard to get out of your head upon first listen:

Why all bad bitches keep they phones face down?
Bad girls always keep they phones face down
I love you when you face down

Early Thursday, fans noticed that West had actually updatedYe opener "I Thought About Killing You" to include a new line referencing his widely criticized TMZ Live appearance. For some reason, the new line—"Sorry, but I chose not to be no slave"—currently only appears in the clean version of the album.

Next for West is the release of his seven-track Kid Cudi collab album Kids See Ghosts. As with Ye, the listening party will be livestreamed via the WAV app for free.
