Drake's 'Scorpion' Breaks Apple Music Record for Most Single-Day Streams

Drake just topped his own record as 'Scorpion' nearly doubled the amount of streams on Apple Music than the previous record holder, 'More Life.'

The Verge reports that Drake's Scorpion broke Apple Music's single-day streaming record on Apple Music with over 170 million plays. That's nearly double Drake's previous album, More Life, which had 89.9 million streams on the streaming service. Scorpion now holds both the U.S. and global streaming records on Apple Music.

Scorpion also holds Spotify's record for most opening-day streams with 132 million, nearly doubling the previous record holder, Post Malone's Beerbongs & Bentleys. The album benefited from Spotify placing the album's songs on their major playlists, including three tracks ("Survival," "Nonstop," and "Talk Up") on RapCaviar. At one point, the album was streaming 10 million times hourly, according to Spotify.

Apple Music also went hard on the Scorpion promotion, launching a website that allows visitors to make their own Scorpion album cover. So the big numbers aren't too much of a surprise.
