New Report Says Trump Is Considering Inviting Kanye West to White House for Dinner

Sources close to Trump say he asked associates if he should invite West over for dinner.

Donald Trump has already tweeted about Kanye West on three separate occasions in the last week, but according to a report from The Daily Beast, the president is also entertaining the idea of extending a dinner invite to the rapper.

The report says, "Trump has asked associates and aides if he should invite the rapper over to the White House for an Oval Office photo-op or for dinner, according to two sources close to the president. One of those sources noted they couldn’t tell if Trump was 'kidding' or not, and also recalled that Trump reiterated how much he enjoys that West has 'always said wonderful' things about Trump."

After West tweeted about his support of Trump and claimed that the two share "dragon energy," the Trump campaign started using him as a fundraising tool. Now, according to The Daily Beast, "There is serious talk within the campaign of trying to involve West personally in the pro-Trump fight."

Of course, an Oval Office dinner wouldn't be the first time the two have met in public since Trump was elected president. In December 2017, Kanye West visited Trump Tower to reportedly discuss becoming an "ambassador of sorts."

The meeting didn't turn into an official role for West, but Trump did go on Fox & Friends this week to double down on his support of the rapper. "He’s got good taste," Trump said. "Kanye looks and he sees black unemployment at the lowest it’s been in the history of our country." He added, "He’s smart. He says, 'You know what, Trump is doing a much better job than the Democrats did.'"

West addressed his public support for Trump in a new song called "Ye vs. the People" that was released Friday. In a back-and-forth dialogue with T.I., Kanye raps that he feels an obligation to show people new ideas and claims he "added empathy, care, love, and affection" to Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan:

I feel a obligation to show people new ideas
And if you wanna hear 'em, there go two right here
Make America Great Again had a negative reception
I took it, wore it, rocked it, gave it a new direction
Added empathy, care, love, and affection
And y'all simply questionin' my methods
