"Plain Jane," the lead single from ASAP Ferg's latest mixtape Still Striving, got the Tonight Show treatment Tuesday. Sadly, Ferg didn't join host Jimmy Fallon on the couch for a discussion with the entire ASAP Mob, but his performance of the recently platinum-certified single made up for it. You can catch it in the video up top.
In December, Ferg dropped the "Plain Jane" remix featuring a top-shelf contribution from Nicki Minaj. In her memorable verse, Minaj tucked in shoutouts to Tidal and the Notorious B.I.G. Even Catherine Zeta-Jones's name was dropped.
Ferg recently revealed that he's working on his next album. If it really is a studio album (Still Striving was marketed as a mixtape), it will mark his first since 2016's Always Strive and Prosper.
In an interview with Highsnobiety surrounding Still Striving's release, Ferg explained how he feels the definition of what qualifies as a "mixtape" has changed in recent years. "Well, people call [Still Striving] an album," he said. "I honestly don't know the difference between albums and mixtapes anymore. But I think it's proper for me to say it's a mixtape because mixtapes have all original music as well and people sell them now."
However you label it, Ferg is taking Still Striving on the road starting next month in Philadelphia. For a full breakdown of dates and ticket info, click here.
