Ahead of their Abobo Nation Part 1 EP (due out June 17), Brit-based outfit Afriquoi sequence a taster of their unique sound by releasing EP opener "Carnabala". With members hailing from Congo, Gambia, Jamaica and the UK, Afriquoi harness a distinctly African vibe via percussion and instrumentation but also administer a refreshing take on contemporary electronica. Creating a transcendent fusion of styles, "Carnabala" features Sheffield-dwelling Kweku of Ghana (K.O.G.) who, heavily influenced by reggae and African soul, lays a powerful vocal over a bed of melodic twists and turns—carefree and anthemic in nature. Listen to the song below and "omanye abe" ("let there be happiness").
