Kevin Gates dropped his new project Murder For Hire 2 tonight. The project is almost featureless, with OG Booby Black making the only contribution outside of Gates himself. It runs a scant 8 tracks, but will hopefully be able to hold fans over for the time being. He announced the impending release of Murder For Hire 2 on Wednesday with a surprise Instagram post. "I'm really sorry for the wait, but Murder For Hire 2 is dropping Friday the 27th," he said.

Gates' last album Islah was surprisingly successful. It moved 112,000 units in its first week alone, and was eventually certified gold. It also spawned the popular single "Two Phones," which went platinum. Since then, he expressed frustration that Atlantic Records wouldn't allow him to release another album until next February.

Murder For Hire 2 should help fans endure the long wait. It serves as the sequel to Gates' popular Murder For Hire mixtape, which dropped in May of last year. Gates also appeared on remix of O.T. Genasis popular song "Cut It" alongside Young Thug recently. The track came out at the beginning of May, and was followed by another remix of the song featuring Lil Wayne and T.I.
