2 Chainz stopped by the Wendy Williams Show today to promote his new joint-album ColleGrove with Lil Wayne. While he was there, Williams asked him about the recent murder of his friend and musical associate Bankroll Fresh. Chainz had nothing but love for Fresh, calling him an "authentic Atlanta trap rapper," who "touched may lives, and lit up every room he went into." He denounced the violence that led to Fresh's death, calling it "super unfortunate, super unnecessary, super senseless, and it just made me want to step up and use my platform for some more positivity."
The 28-year old rapper was tragically shot and killed on Saturday outside the Street Execs recording studio in Atlanta. Police have yet to identify a suspect or motive, but they recovered at least 50 shell casings at the scene. Fresh was considered an artist with major promise, having made some waves with his 2014 mixtape Life of a Hot Boy and its single "Hot Boy." He was affiliated with 2 Chainz Street Execs management company. A number of artists, especially from the Atlanta area, have made statements mourning his death.
During the show, 2 Chainz also took some time to talk about Lil Wayne, whom he called his "favorite rapper," and to break down the true meaning of trap music for Williams. He also discussed his new baby Halo and his online GQ show Most Expensive Shit, where he travels around interviewing people who own outlandishly expensive items.
