Just a week after claiming to not know who Thom Yorke isSam Smith is making headlines again for not recognizing that racism occurs in his hometown of London. The recent Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated singer took to Twitter last night to express his disbelief at the racial treatment towards a friend.

"Just experienced my friend getting verbally abused racially in London. I am absolutely SPEECHLESS," he wrote. "I never ever ever ever thought that would happen here. Absolutely speechless and hurt." Smith went on to add that he feels like he has "to shine some sort of light on it," citing that the police "were so unhelpful."

I feel like I have to shine some sort of light on it. The police were so unhelpful in the situation and its deeply shocked me.

I feel like I have to say something. I'm just so upset. So UPSET

The real shock is how unaware Sam Smith sounds, and the internet wasted no time in pointing it out. The writing's on the wall, Sam. And the radio. And the TV.

Sam Smith witnessed his friend experience racism and now he wants to "shine light" on something about as known as cars having four wheels.

Wait until Sam Smith finds out about colonialism, that'll really blow his mind.
