After unveiling the video for “Illsugi” on Thursday, Toronto rapper BriskInTheHouse has dropped The Tony Welfare EP in full.
The EP boasts guest features from BKR$CLB boss Raz Fresco and GOODxJESUS affiliate Goaldy, with beats produced by Ricky Reasonz, Prof.Logik, Tuamie, Satorii, and Illsugi. Twisted, spacey grooves dominate the 8-track effort, with BriskInTheHouse spitting blissful, perpetual bars, with no traditional choruses in sight. It’s an exercise in artistry, and a document of a lyricist in the prime of his creative existence.
“The tape is dedicated to my older cousin Tony Welfare,” Brisk told Complex via email. “He taught me how rhyme and hone my skills growing up as a child.”
