Montreal dream-pop syndicate No Joy have scaled back the fuzz on “Everything New,” a jangly exercise in melancholy melody and enchanting dual vocal harmonies. Produced by Jorge Elbrecht (Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Chairlift), “Everything New” sounds like the tranquil eye of the storm in a shoegaze, guitar pedal-fueled tornado.

The Wayo, “Lay It Down” (Dirty Chocolate Remix)

Vancouverite Tobias Jesso Jr. has been turning heads with his debut record Goon, and  “Without You” is an album highlight. Joined by Danielle Haim on the drums, and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, Jesso Jr. croons a timeless piano pop ballad that would simultaneously please both McCartney and One Direction fans alike.

“Entropy” was crafted by Grimes and fun. guitarist/Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff, as part of the soundtrack to HBO’s Girls, which just so happens to be created by Antonoff’s partner Lena Dunham. The song leans closer to Antonoff’s pop tendencies than Grimes’ electronic experimentation, making for an unexpectedly satisfying pop gem.
