Update 8/21: Yesterday, Complex was sent an email from Raury's publicist with the photo above and a quick statement about Raury being flown out for a meeting with Kanye West. As noted, the photo made its way to KanyeToThe and was starting to circulate on forums.
Today, Complex received clarification from a reliable source close to the situation who confirmed an "early meeting did take place with G.O.O.D. Music in which Raury requested to take a photo with Kanye but downplayed any plans for future collaborations since West is currently very focused on his various projects."
Raury then took to Twitter to clarify the two hadn't worked together on anything yet, like we noted in our piece. We requested comment from Raury's publicist about the confusion but have not received anything yet.
Original: Earlier this week, a photo of Kanye West and budding Atlanta singer/songwriter Raury surfaced on Ye's fansite, KanyeToThe, which as you might imagine, brought on a frenzy of questions about what the two were doing together. We spoke with Raury's rep on the photo and story behind it. Raury's rep confirmed to Complex that Ye flew Raury out after seeing the video for "God's Whisper," and expressed how much it had inspired him.
"The photo was taken shortly after Kanye West saw the "God's Whisper" video. 'Ye personally flew Raury out and expressed that he was inspired by the visual," Raury's rep told us over email. "The two played each others album and just kicked it. However, West is working on his next album and they plan to hit the studio very soon."
While it appears that the two haven't linked up in the studio yet, a future collaboration seems imminent. Raury's highly-anticipated project, Indigo Child, is set to drop on August 25 before he is set to perform at OutKast's "ATLast" festival in Atlanta in September. The official artwork and tracklist for Raury's upcoming project can be seen below.
