A Michigan woman who lost both her husband and her son to COVID-19 said her goodbyes via a Facebook Live funeral service last week.

Sandy Brown of Flint, Michigan first lost her 59-year-old husband Freddie Lee Brown Jr. in late March. PerCBS News, her 20-year-old son Freddie Lee Brown III died three days later.

"There's not even a word created to describe my pain," Brown said of losing her husband and only child. "It's unimaginable. In three days, I lost my husband and son to an ugly plague. I watched my son go from completely well and whole and happy to being gone in three days."

As detailed in a separate report from a regional CBS affiliate, Brown’s son was set to attend Michigan State University in the fall and was a massive football fan. At the Facebook Live-broadcast memorial service, during which Brown followed COVID-19 guidelines by wearing a mask, she draped a Michigan State jersey over his casket.

Jackson Memorial Temple pastor Kiemba Knowlin, a friend of the Brown family for years, told reporters that the family was planning to put together a more traditional memorial service once COVID-19 containment efforts were allowed to be eased.

The total number of cases in Michigan state has surpassed 24,000. As of the most recent update via the Detroit Free Press, the total number of deaths was at 1,487 while the total number of recovered cases was at 433.
