And so it begins.

Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign manager, surrendered to federal authorities Monday. Manafort was indicted under seal Friday and told to surrender, CNNreported Monday. Fuck yeah.

According to a New York Timesreport, Manafort's business associate (and Trump campaign deputy) Rick Gates was also told to turn himself in to federal authorities.

Following the surrender, the indictment was unsealed. The indictment lists 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States and unregistered agent of a foreign principal. The full indictment can be viewed here.

Manafort resigned from his Trump campaign role in August 2016 amid growing inquiries regarding cash payments he received from a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine. At the time, Trump said in a statement that he was "very appreciative" of Manafort's "great work" with the campaign. Manafort's home was raided by the F.B.I. earlier this year.

Ty Cobb, Trump's attorney, claimed to the Times last week that his client isn't worried about Manafort's ability to offer damaging information related to Russian election interference. However, on the eve of Manafort's surrender, Trump made a series of meltdown-esque attempts at deflection.

At the time of this writing, Trump's most recent tweet was about a Fox & Friends segment he watched this morning. Presumably, Trump just wants us to know that he's a big boy and he can watch TV all by himself.

Anyway, let's pop some champagne and crank the volume. I love this fucking song.
