A London barrister—who had previously worked for notable figures such as Nadine Dorries and the Earl of Cardigan, and asked two clients to sell him drugs—has been jailed for 14 months.
According to ITV News, Henry Hendron pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to possessing crystal meth, along with three counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence.
In May 2022, Hendron, who had represented two men over drug offences, was arrested outside Belmarsh prison while visiting his client. He was then charged two months later.
Messages on the 42-year-old’s mobile phone revealed that he had asked two of his clients to supply methamphetamine (crystal meth) and gamma-butyrolactone (GHB).
In 2017, Hendron was suspended from practising for three years following his conviction on two charges of possessing controlled ‘chemsex’ drugs (mephedrone, known as ‘meow meow’, and GBL) with intent to supply.
“Hendron was a practicing barrister at the time of these offences and bought drugs from clients he represented over drug allegations. His acts were unethical and illegal,” said Kate Mulholland, the Specialist Prosecutor from CPS London’s Complex Case Unit.
“Drug-related crimes have truly devastating effects on the community, and the Crown Prosecution Service is committed to prosecuting all such cases where our evidential test is met.”
