Bribing U.S. senators is never a good idea.

When it comes to doing what’s best for the country, Rosie O’Donnell DGAF how she does it, so long as she gets it done. So on Tuesday, she tweeted at Republican Senators Jeff Flake and Susan Collins and offered each of them $2 million if they voted no on the GOP’s new tax bill, even though that’s kind of, er, definitely bribery or something, isn’t it?

Desperate times may call for desperate measures, but committing a federal crime by attempting to bribe a U.S. official probably isn't the best way to get what you want. We know Rosie is a comedian and all, but it’s hard to tell if she was really kidding or not. And even though many of her followers approved of the sentiment behind Rosie’s offer, Twitter still gave her some slight side-eye for her comments.

It’s hard to overlook the blatant hypocrisy of it all. The GOP doesn’t strike us as the most transparent or kosher bunch when it comes to how they get shit done. But as tempting and effective as stooping to that level may be, lawd please don’t tweet about it. Sheesh. In any case, the Senate passed the bill early Wednesday, so we guess $2 million wasn’t enough.
