A family of six was found dead inside their Allen, Texas home early Monday morning from what police suspect to be an apparent murder-suicide committed by two sons, NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports.
Allen Police Department Sgt. Jon Felty said they were asked to perform a wellness check by a friend of someone living in the residence who was believed to be suicidal. When authorities arrived after 1 a.m., the bodies of father Towhidul Islam, 54; mother Iren Islam, 56; grandmother Altafun Nessa, 77; Tanvir Towhid, 21; and 19-year-old twins Farbin Towhid and Farhan Towhid were found with gunshot wounds.
“It looks like two teenage sons entered into an agreement that they were going to commit suicide and that they were going to take their family members with them,” Felty said. Police reached this conclusion after reviewing a social media post from one of the boys who detailed what happened that fateful night, while also explaining that they were clinically depressed, and instead of putting their family through the grief that would come from their suicide, they decided that the next best course of action would be to kill them before taking their own lives.
Police declined to speak any further about what was written in the post. Authorities cannot confirm when the incident took place, but evidence suggests it occurred on Saturday night. Neighbors claim they didn’t hear anything and gunshots weren’t recently reported in the area.
Felty said the family emigrated from Bangladesh, and police have located their closest relatives in Florida.
