After over 15 years at Nintendo of America, president and chief operating officer of Reggie Fils-Aime is stepping down, and senior vice president of sales and marketing, Doug Bowser, will take over. Yes, the irony of having someone take control of the Nintendo kingdom with the last name Bowser isn't lost on anyone with, at least, some basic knowledge of the Mario franchise.

We're actually about to live in the timeline where Bowser reigns supreme over Nintendo of America

Bowser joined Nintendo in 2015 to become senior vice president of sales and marketing after previously working with Electronic Arts. "We will continue to build on his work to evolve and expand our brand, furthering Nintendo’s global mission of creating smiles," Bowser said in a statement, perUSA TODAY. "There are millions more of those to come." His biggest smile may come when he uses this latest promotion to finally get the best of Mario, and take control of Mushroom Kingdom.

Now, we leave you with a fond farewell message from Reggie.
