At this point it seems we can't go a single day without Donald Trumpstirring up controversy. Last week the Republican frontrunner said that women should be punished for having abortions, and a few days prior he bragged about being "right" about terrorism in reference to the attacks on Brussels. Trump went further below the belt than usual in a recent Twitter feud with Ted Cruz when he retweeted an unflattering picture of Cruz's wife, which he defended like a five-year-old while speaking with Anderson Cooper. Trump hasn't exactly apologized for what he did, but he did admit it was a mistake.

Speaking to the New York Times on Saturday, Trump said, "Yeah, it was a mistake. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have sent it." Still no sign of the word "sorry," but that would be asking a lot of Trump considering his intractable political campaigning.

VIDEO: Trump on Cruz: "He started it." Cooper: "That's the argument of a five year-old."

This specific conflict began last month when Trump accused Cruz of writing the words for an anti-Trump digital ad that included a photo of his wife Melania Trump from her 2000 British GQ shoot. The ad suggested that Melania's provocative posing wasn't appropriate First Lady behavior.

Texas senator Cruz denied he planted the ad, and the feud escalated from there. Trump threatened to "spill the beans" on Heidi Cruz, whatever that means, and then retweeted the side-by-side photos that got him in trouble. Trump still reiterated that he didn't view the picture of Heidi "necessarily as negative," although it definitely is, and again justified his actions by saying that Cruz started it.

It looks like this is the closest thing we'll get to a Trump apology, and it still isn't wholehearted. It's only a matter of time before something petty like this happens again.
