Wednesday marked the third and final presidential debate, and during the debate, GOP candidate Donald Trump decided to insult Latinos in Spanish by calling some immigrants "bad hombres."
Though Trump going after Latino immigrants, and especially Mexicans, is nothing new for him, it turns out his use of the word "hombres" was a first for modern U.S. presidential debates.
While speaking about his immigration reform plans, Trump said, "We're going to secure the border, and once the border is secured at a later date, we'll make a determination as to the rest. But we have some bad hombres here and we're going to get them out."
According to the Independent Journal Review, Trump's use of the word "hombres" marked the first time in the history of modern general election presidential debates where a candidate has said something in Spanish. Candidates ranging from Al Gore to George W. Bush used Spanish during campaign events when they were running, according to the Independent Journal Review, but none of them spoke Spanish during their debates.
