In an extreme case of someone who wants out of a relationship, 51-year-old Paul Nixon is wanted by police for forging his wife's signature on divorce papers. The Harris County, Texas resident attempted to divorce his wife, going far enough to submit the legal documents without letting her know beforehand.

As the New York Post reports, Nixon is wanted on felony aggravated perjury charges. "We rarely see something like this," said Harris County Constable Mark Herman. "In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce but the only problem is, he left his wife out of the process. And that’s a violation of the law here in Texas."

Nixon's wife first contacted authorities on May 14. "She was very surprised," Herman added. "She started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him and he told her that they were actually divorced." When she went to Harris County District Court to see if what he said was true, she discovered the forged documents. The couple had been married for "just a couple of years," but as of right now they're still legally married.

"The fraudulent divorced papers have been retracted," Herman said. Officers are still looking for Nixon, who faces up to 10 years behind bars if convicted. It is believed that he has been missing since Sept. 14.
