Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis said she needs extensive security “to stay alive” after receiving threats over the Young Stoner Life RICO arrests.

In an interview with WSB-TV—which can be viewed here—Willis said she has been on the receiving end of threats due to the racketeering indictment against Young Thug and his YSL associates, and the creation of a special grand jury to investigate efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

“We don’t believe that these threats were directed by anyone that is in the YSL indictment,” said Willis. “I would say that [threats are coming from] people that are very sympathetic, maybe admirers of YSL and people who are connected with them in some sense.”

WSB-TV revealed earlier this month that 18-year-old Quartavius Mender was arrested after he threatened the life of Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat and his wife on social media.

Willis said she’s gotten just as many threats from Donald Trump supporters due to the special grand jury, too. “Oh, it is definitely a significant driver of the heightened security,” said Willis. “People are angry about that investigation. People are angry about investigations into gangs, so each of those things plays a factor.” She added that Trump has not shared any posts targeting her on social media, although she suggested her movements have been under surveillance by an unnamed party.

“I’m much more cautious than I’ve ever been in my life, paying more attention to my surroundings. It’s required for me to stay alive,” she said, noting that she has had to change her day-to-day life in order to remain safe. As for what precautions she’s taking, she said she cannot divulge any information but an investigation is underway. One particular threat made against her life came from a person who knows where she lives, Willis shared.
