The Miami Herald reports a 14-year-old teen hanged herself with a homemade noose at her foster home during a Facebook Live stream. This news comes just a few weeks after a 12-year-old girl in Georgia hanged herself, also during a livestream.

While details are scarce regarding what lead to Nakia Venant committing suicide, a post from a woman who's said to be Nakia's mother read, "I was showing you tough love when you misbehaved." On Monday, it was said that the same woman wrote, "Hours after I posted this, u left me baby girl."

According to the Miami Herald, Naika affixed the scarf to the frame of a shower in her foster home while her foster parents slept around 3:03 a.m. on Sunday. Someone who was watching the livestream is said to have called the police, giving them an address. When the police showed up, they were directed to the actual address of her foster home.

The Florida Department of Children & Families are still investigating the circumstances around Nakia's death. "We will do everything we can to support this family and all those who cared for her as they begin to heal from this tragedy. We will conduct a comprehensive, multidisciplinary special review to examine this child’s history and the circumstances related to serving the child," they said.
