Launching under the brand’s outdoors and performance-focused subdivision, Jil Sander+, the debut collaboration builds on the influence of “life outside the city.”
Comprising a range of womenswear, menswear, and unisex pieces, the collection itself takes inspiration from skiing, snowboarding and other mountain sports. This is referenced through an eclectic capsule that features three jackets, bibbed trousers, and a one-piece suit.
All pieces mix Jil Sander’s understated luxury with technical and functional elements from Arc’teryx, with fabrics such as 3L Gore-Tex incorporated alongside leather overlays and new shapes and silhouettes. The collection also plays host to a classic monochrome colour palette, as well a blue-grey colour inspired by glaciers.
Speaking on the release, Jil Sander’s Lucie and Luke Meier commented: “We both grew up spending time in the mountains enjoying winter sports but we could never find garments that balanced high performance with high aesthetic quality. Eventually, with Arc’teryx, a company we have always admired for their rigor and commitment to research, we had the chance to design them.”
