Jay Electronica took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal a new face tattoo he received in honor of Louis Farrakhan, the current leader of the Nation of Islam.

The tattoo, which was done by London-based tattoo artist Olivier Tattoo, features the name “Farrakhan” written above Jay Elect’s left eyebrow. The Roc Nation rapper posted a clip of his face tat backed by his and Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side B collaboration “Free Kutter.”

“As my sweet mother would say… ‘Well son, fuckem,’” Jay Elec captioned the post.

Jay Elec has never shied away from acknowledging his allegiance to the Nation of Islam.

His 2020 album A Written Testimony incorporates several Islamic references, including motifs from Sunni Islam, Nation of Islam, and the Nation of the Gods and Earths’ teachings, while album opener “The Overwhelming Event” begins with a speech by Louis Farrakhan.

Meanwhile, A Written Testimony tracks such as “Universal Soldier” and “Ezekiel’s Wheel” see Jay Elec sample Elijah Muhammad, the Malcolm X mentor who led the Nation of Islam from 1934 until his death in 1975.
