Fai Khadra and Oliver Peoples have joined forces on an exclusive sunglasses collection.
The heritage eyewear-maker and multidisciplinary creative are offering a five-piece capsule that is equal parts fashion-forward and timeless.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Fai Khadra,” Oliver Peoples CEO Rocco Basilico said in a press release. “Fai will become a leader in the creative space of design and brought a clear vision to the collaboration. As a brand, Oliver Peoples has always been defined by vintage-inspired details made for the modern wearer. Fai’s innovative, creative direction aligned with our aesthetic seamlessly.”
Handcrafted in Italy, the “Fai sunglass” model was based on a vintage pair of shades sourced by Khadra. The piece is presented with a rectangle shape with a unique barbed wire detail embedded in the acetate arms. The glasses are available in five colorways: dark mahogany, black, emerald bark, translucent burgundy, and grey textured tortoise.
“I approached it more from a technology standpoint,” Khadra told Vegas magazine about the collaborative design. “I 3D-modeled my face and started playing around on the computer with different shapes and things. We played around with all these different shapes, and then I went around looking for more source material. I went to different vintage shops, places I’m inspired by that I shop at or buy things from; different unique little knick-knack places, and I started to compile a bunch of different frames.”
Not only did Khadra assist in the design process, he also helped direct the capsule’s official campaign alongside photographer Hugo Comte. The sleek black-and-white images show Khadra rocking the frames with international model Jordan Daniels.
In celebration of the capsule collection, Oliver Peoples and Khadra hosted an intimate launch event in Los Angeles this week. The intimate dinner, which took place on a helipad, featured a star-studded guest list that included names like The Weeknd, Hailey Bieber, Luka Sabbat, and Khadra’s good friend Kendall Jenner.
