Supreme and other top-line brands will be temporarily closing stores as global efforts aimed at curbing COVID-19 continue to ramp up.
"We are closed temporarily to ensure the health and safety of customers and staff," Hypebeast-spotted signs placed on shops informed customers. The online shop and the Japan store will remain open for the time being. Supreme locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and San Francisco are closed.
Other brands including Kith, Phillip Lim, Opening Ceremony, OVO, Steve Madden, Concepts, Patagonia, Urban Outfitters, Stadium Goods, and Sneakersnstuff have also announced temporary closures. Most affected stores have not yet announced a targeted reopening date, stating in their respective announcements that they will instead be monitoring the situation moving forward.
Nike announced it too would be closing all stores in the U.S., Canada, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand through at least March 27 over coronavirus outbreak concerns. In the States alone, Nike has 384 retail locations and outlet stores. Affected Nike employees are expected to be paid in full during the forced no-work period.
