NIGO® and Levi’s are back with another collaborative drop, this time giving the prolific designer the unique opportunity of reimagining some of his favorite denim pieces.
Notably, the re-pairing of the two titans of fashion arrives during the 150th anniversary year of the classic Levi’s 501 jeans. Still a staple to this day, the style was first introduced to the world with more utilitarian ambitions way back in 1873.
The new Spring/Summer 2023 offering from NIGO® and Levi’s includes the Hickory Stripe 501 in a vintage wash and a Hickory Stripe Trucker Jacket in a matching wash that completes the look. Both were made in Japan using 13-ounce selvage denim.
“As a concept, ‘The Future is in the Past’ means looking at the past to create for the future,” NIGO® said in a press release of the new collection, which launches globally on April 6. “I found the original Hickory Stripe 501 at a vintage store in 1995 and haven’t seen it reproduced since then. Using the past as my reference book, I am honored to bring this archival 501 back during the 150th anniversary.”
