The Style Wins and Fails of the 2015 NBA Draft

The night's first pick was a bold, high-upside selection, with some observers calling it a bust and others predicting that we'll see it for many years to come. Oh, and it was worn by Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns.

Can't really fault a guy wearing school colors on the draft night, even they're candystriper hues like Ohio State's. Still, that shirt and that bow tie aren't exactly helping play down the barbershop quartet associations.

And thus begins the night's biggest trend, for reasons unknown: maroon tuxes. Sometimes an idea just spreads like wildfire in a close-knit circle like this. Or maybe the kids these days really do wanna be like LeBron, as the King and NBA tastemaker wore the same thing at the 2013 ESPYs.

The night's most poorly received pick also went with maroon, which was helped with the addition of a more modern skinny tie-and-clip combo. Now he just has to survive being on the Knicks.

This is like how the freshest kid at your high school dressed for prom. We'll even overlook the fact that he's 21.

Don't do weird contrast collars, especially when the white inside lining is peeking out and ruins your Batman mystique. Also, that pocket square…thing.

Everything about this outfit is actually pretty on point except the tie, which immediately makes it look like the '94 Draft all of a sudden. Don't worry, these kids will develop further after they're in the league.

FRANK THE TANK. Outfit of the night, and we haven't even looked at the whole outfit.

Man, the Nutty Professor look's really catching fire in NBA circles.

Justise's outfit, but with some sick complementary colors thrown in. A+.

DAMN. Sorry Frank, we gotta pass on the belt to the first player in NBA history to pull of dressing like Mad Men's Roger Sterling.

Oubre is also wearing maroon, but LOOK AT THOSE SHOES. Those are gonna replace blue shells in the next Mario Kart.

Not typically a fan of the cutaway banker collar, but it's crisp enough here that we'll let it slide.

This is very red.

These are actually the former Arkansas player's school colors, so he's really hating all the other guys right now.

Buffalo plaid pants are daring yes, but here it just looks like you only half-changed out of your PJs…from January.

And that's the second player in NBA history to rock the Roger Sterling look. Set your trend-o-meters for next year, fellas.
