Although there's nothing uplifting about the paintings in Cleon Peterson's "End of Days" exhibition, something about them makes viewers unable to tear their eyes from the violent scenes. The Los Angeles-based artist's on going show at New Image Art, which we previewed a few weeks ago, depicts a horrific world in which the powerful have grown ruthless and massacred the weak. Rendered in contrasting color schemes of black and white and black and red, his illustrations of fallen bodies and bloodshed are that much more striking and graphic. Despite how unnerving these images from the show may be, they are meant to shock and provoke thought.
Originally, "End of Days" was to conclude on March 22, but it seems the exhibition has now been extended to April 12 so now you'll have more time to visit the show.
