Danny Baptista started his shop in the back of a BMX store, and now he's running one of the best places to get a cut in Brooklyn. You won't beat the price, and you definitely won't find a more skilled team of barbers in King's County.

Tomcats is the industry standard for the modern vintage gentleman's cut. What does that mean? If you part it, comb it, slick it back, or smear it with pomade, this is your joint. Sure they'll do any kid of cut you want, but if you're after a quick buzz, Astor Barber is your best bet.

Sure, it's tough to justify dropping $75 on a cut, but trust, there are times in life when it's totally worth it. Tommy Guns isn't your twice a month barber, but it's the place you go when you know you need an immaculate 'do.

At Levels barbering is an art form. That means if you want your girl's name or your basketball jersey number expertly chiseled into your dome, this is the place for you.

Dennis "Denny Moe" Mitchell has been cutting hair for 29 years, so you're in good hands at Harlem's best barber shop. Celebrity clients? Yeah, he's got those. Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown, Freddie Jackson, T-PAIN, NE-YO, Johnny Gill, Method Man, Jerry Stackhouse, Levar Burton, James McDaniel, Eddie Murphy... The list goes on.

At a time when bougie culture has hipster-ified every retail experience in Brookln, it's nice to visit a barber shop that focuses on doing something and doing it well, not on image. Corner Barber is located on a mobbed section of Bedford Ave, but expect better than typical Williamsburg service.

Hashtag menswear's barber shop of choice is also an excellent location for induldging in the East Village. The free drink with a cut is the main attraction, and bonus points because you get a real cocktail and not an old can of Pabst.

What You Need To Know: Freeman's newest location is pricey, but expect top notch service.
Ballers and dandies alike have been frequenting the Freeman's empire for high-end cuts since the Rivington Street location opened in 2006. Yes, the new location is in Williamsburg, but that doesn't mean you have to get the hipster sidepart.

What You Need To Know: Cash only. They take appointments, but with 70 chairs it's not likely that you'll need one.
The downtown standby. Ask anyone who's lived in New York for more than ten years and they'll tell you. This no frills barber gets the job done everytime, quick and easy. Not the spot for your extra-fancy perm or blow out, but this is the place for a fade in lower Manhattan.
