Complex Color Formula Guide: Valentine Edition

It's Monday, and we're staring down the barrel of another Valentine's Day. If you have a significant other in your life, you have about 6 hours to figure this out, so allow us to help. We caught up with old St. Vd, who leaked us Cupid's Valentine's day color trend forecast for this February 14th. Sure you can do dinner, roses, and chocolates, but a simple card, virtual or hand crafted, will probably do just fine (just claim recession). Pantone 485C (Red Hots Red)

This is the classic V-Day red, and arguably the most popular Pantone for this Valentine's season. It's slightly darker than a standard red, and the rich tone is the go to for your go-to lady. This color combo is Bill Murray-approved, you can't go wrong.

Pantone 496C (Agent Provocateur Pink)

If you can't drop $500 on an Agent Provocateur ensemble for your girl this Valentine's, make her a holiday card using Pantone 496C. It's the color of the iconic lingerie store's classic gift boxes and shopping bags, so it's the next best

thing (or at least you can try telling her that). She'll appreciate you recognizing the fact that

she's a classy, naughty, sexy lady and worthy of the best with this soft pink color. She's your girl, not

some cheap Pantone 807C magenta street walker.

Pantone 492C (Ferrari 458 Italia Burgundy)

This sophisticated, wealthy, sinful color for Valentine's Day 2011 is where it's at. It's the pinnacle of Pantones, so even if your first date gets awkwardly scheduled on Valentine's, PMS 492C will have her clothes on the floor. Just as long as it's the floor of the Penthouse. At the Ritz.

Pantone 256C - 259C (Cam'ron Purple)

Any number from this PMS series will do if your girl is World Star status. Mix and match within this color palatte to achieve ultimate haze for your loved one or secret admirer. Cupid already know Harlem, get your hood rat on.

Pantone 238C (Perez Hilton Video Player Magenta)

Any idea inspired by Perezhilton is not always a good look originality wise (millions are already on it), and this Pantone misses the traditional Valentine's Day color scheme, but if you're dating a space cadet for the night, it's probably appropriate. The zero-attention type gossip girls will get off on the subliminal hit.
