Artist James Jean's work is often filled with mythical creatures that seem to burst with movement off of his medium. His newest piece, a mural titled Paradise for POW! WOW! Taiwan, is no exception. The black-and-white creation shows demon figures tearing each other apart in a thunderstorm of typographic characters.
Paradise is painted on a wall at the Taipei Zoo and is a commentary about animals in captivity. “Taiwanese macaques tumble in a paradise/prison of man’s making,” Jean told Arrested Motion of the mural.
In addition to his stint in Taiwan, Jean has most recently designed the album cover and promotional artwork for Linkin Park's new album The Hunting Party.
